I saw this painted on the side of a building in Dunedin. Great introductory image for me. Below are images i have taken of our new place in Dunedin. Click on the images to enlarge them. Our van with the stuff hasn't arrived yet...so we're still living off what we took with us in our suitcases. Luckily, our place is mostly furnished. When we get our things i will decorate the place with our paintings, books etc and i'll take more pics, but for now i hope you get a nice idea of where we are.

This is the start of our driveway and garage...looking into the front yard from the street. As you walk up into the house you will walk past the established gardens, bbq area and large grassy lawn. The house is very private and perched right on top of the inclining land on the property, overlooking the harbour and our front gardens.

We bought some very warm featherdown jackets in preparation for the winter at the markets, well made and cheap. There are markets held every week in the Dunedin city... not as big as this one though. This market is on every year, and it is huge. Part of the city is closed off and all of the little side streets, nooks and crannies are chockers full of stalls. I barely managed to move through it let alone take a photo in amongst it all... so i took it from the outskirts. Lots of fun.

We live about fifteen minutes drive away from the Dunedin city. I have noticed there are these funny little red phone booths around. They are quite cute. The town's name comes from Dùn Èideann, the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh, the Scottish capital. The city founders designed the street layout and names to closely match that of Edinburgh.

This is our front deck. Nice views of the harbour and a beautiful spot to have breakfast in the morning. Just a few minutes walk down the road, and the harbour is at your feet. We take the dogs for a walk there and let them run around and swim. We also bring the Kayak that the landlord kindly left here for us. Lots of penguins, seals and albatross birds around the peninsula.

I have noticed a few cats doing this around Dunedin... strange, must be a dunedin cat thing. Keep your eyes peeled when your here, they blend rather well.

Our established gardens are very beautiful. As you are walking up to our house you can smell all of the flowers that are in bloom. The jasmines have crept all around the decks and the smell is so nice i want to eat them.

This is our dining area and fireplace. The dining area is joint with the lounge area, which then leads on to the front door and deck. Quite a beautiful setup with the floorboards and panoramic views that looks over the harbour and the mountains on the other side :)

This is where i will be studying a bachelor of Design Communication this year, and for the next few years at the Otago Polytechnic design building.

This our kitchen, which seems to be brand new. There is plenty of cupboard space, we usually open up two wrong drawers before finding the right one when looking for utencils. Nice big windows which overlook a valley of sheep grazing.

Leigh has just started working at the Otago Polytechnic. Leighs job title is Programme Developer for the Educational Development Centre. His role is to research ICTs and propose new ways of teaching and learning. Faculty come to our centre and ask for help developing their courses with more communications and information technologies.

This is a picture of our kitchen and hallway with the fireplace in the middle. Behind me is our joint loungeroom/dining area which overlooks the harbour. The hallway leads in to the two rooms and study. We get beautiful morning sunshine come through our windows which warms the house up nicely first thing in the morning.
